Begins Friday, April 1st Register NOW – Space is limited

The Delaware County Office of Services for the Aging (COSA) in partnership with Wayne Senior Center is sponsoring the nationally recognized Arthritis Foundation Walk with Ease Program for those age 60 and older who need relief from arthritis pain or just want to remain active. This program will be held once a week online on Fridays at 10:30 a.m. beginning April 1st through May 13th, with exception of the Friday, April 15th holiday.  The final session will be held on Friday, May 13, 2021.

Don’t be a fool on April Fool’s Day!  This evidence-based program is proven to reduce the pain of arthritis; increase balance, strength, and walking pace; build confidence in one’s ability to be physically active; and improve overall health.  Let’s get moving to stay in shape and stay strong.  Start where you are and progress at your own pace.  What’s not to like about walking? It’s free. It’s easy to do, and it’s easy on the joints. The Arthritis Foundation notes that walking is an aerobic exercise that:

*Improves circulation and wards off heart disease                     *Keeps your bones strong

*Lightens your mood                                                                             *Leads to a long life

*Leads to weight loss                                                                    *Strengthens muscles

*Improves sleep                                                                             *Supports your joints

*Improves your breath                                                                          *Slows mental decline

*Lowers Alzheimer’s risk                                                                      *Helps you do more, longer

Program participants will receive the Arthritis Foundation’s Walk with Ease Guide Book FREE and will walk 3 times a week on their own with support and instruction from a trained leader in this self-directed version of the program. Participants will share and receive support, motivation, and information from the leader and from other walkers at weekly online group meetings and through weekly e-mails.

All program costs are covered by COSA so the program is FREE, however class size is limited. Registration is required.

To register, contact Ellen Williams atwilliamse@co.delaware.pa.us or by calling 610-499-1937.  Provide your name, address, phone number and email address.
