Posted on June 20, 2019
In order to protect the public health, safety and welfare, Upper Chichester Township requires the vacant registration of properties after 30 days of vacancy. It is important to monitor the number of vacant buildings in the Township in order to:
- Assess the effects of the condition of those buildings on nearby businesses and residential neighborhoods
- To inspect for fire and safety hazards
- To promote substantial efforts to rehabilitate vacant buildings
If you think a property is vacant, please call the License and Inspection Department at 610-485-5719 ext. 205. Common signs of a vacant dwelling are:
- No “For Sale” or “For Lease” signs
- Overgrown grass
- Exterior in disrepair
- Broken windows or doors
- No occupants coming or going
- Electricity off in the evening hours
Please see Article II of the Township Code of Ordinances for more information on Vacant Registrations.
