COVID-19 Vaccine Clinic in Honor of Superintendent Scott Mahoney to be held on June 9 #ShootForScott

Posted on June 1, 2021

The Delaware County Fraternal Order of Police, the Delaware County Police Chief's Association, the District Attorney's Office, Delaware County Council, IAFF Local 1400 and IAFF 2493 in partnership with the IBEW Local 654 are hosting a one-day COVD-19 Vaccine Drive for all public safety workers and IBEW members.

The free Covid-19 Vaccine Clinic will be held on Wednesday, June 9 at the IBEW Local 654 Hall, located at 3729 Chichester Avenue in Boothwyn from noon to 6:00p.m. The single dose Johnson & Johnson vaccine will be given.

On May 18, Delaware County Park Police Superintendent Scott Mahoney tragically passed away from COVID-19 complications.  Superintendent Scott Mahoney began his career in law enforcement as a Patrolman for the Delaware County Park Police in 1992. Over the years, he rose through the ranks until being officially sworn in as the Chief of the Delaware County Park police in 2019. He also worked as a part-time patrolman for Aldan, Clifton Heights, Colwyn, and Millbourne, and as a volunteer firefighter in Upper Darby through the years. Superintendent Mahoney was the founding member of the Delaware County Police Emerald Society. He bravely served the residents of Delaware County with dedication and valor for almost 30 years.

In the days and weeks before his death, Superintendent Mahoney called and texted loved ones and numerous members of law enforcement urging them to get vaccinated. In a text to FOP President Chris Eiserman he wrote “I was supposed to get the vaccine a few different times, but things kept coming up. Tell these guys to get the shot.” In an effort to fulfill his wishes and encourage members of law enforcement and the community to get vaccinated, the Delaware County Fraternal Order of Police and the Delaware County Police Chief's Association spearheaded a vaccination day in honor of Superintendent Mahoney.

“Scott texted many of his brothers and sisters in blue while he was in the ICU asking us to get vaccinated,” said FOP President Chris Eiserman. “This day is in honor of him and in honor of his wishes. Come out and at least take the time to learn more about the vaccine.”

Delaware County Medical Advisor Dr. Lisa O’Mahony will be available to answer questions and address concerns during the Vaccine Clinic.

A buffet lunch and refreshments will be provided. People who receive the vaccine will have their name entered into a raffle to win $1,000, a Yeti cooler, and tickets to a Philadelphia Union Soccer game.

No registration is needed. Police, Fire, and EMS personnel who are on duty will not have to wait in line and will be given priority placement. Questions? Please call or email FOP President Chris Eiserman: 267-216-8677 or fpd6328@hotmail.com
