Are YOU up-to-date on your vaccines?
August is National Immunization Awareness Month, an annual observance held in August to highlight the importance of vaccination for all people – older adults too! Vaccines are not just important to children; they are important to us as we age as well. This month is a good time to check in with your healthcare provider to make sure you are up to date on your vaccines to do your part to remain healthy and well.
What you can do:
- Talk to your doctor, nurse, or healthcare provider about whether you have missed any vaccines.
- Use CDC’s adult vaccine assessment tool to see which vaccines might be recommended for your age, health conditions, job, or lifestyle.
It is especially important for people with certain health conditions to be up to date on recommended vaccinations since they are at increased risk for complications from certain vaccine-preventable diseases.
